Blood of our troops on Democrats

The blood of our troops is now on the Democrats and their willing accomplices in much of the media. Why? With statements like “the war is lost”, and other words of defeat, the enemy has become more emboldened with the hope that we will lose our will to fight over time. We are prolonging the war with this defeatist attitude and we are spilling more of the blood of our brave troops than would otherwise be necessary. This enemy, whether it is Al Qaeda or the Taliban, is smart, adapts quickly, and uses the media to its advantage. Some politicians with the help of much of the media are more interested in bashing a President they don’t like than winning.

Being a veteran of the Vietnam War and responsible for flying many troops off the battlefield, I saw some good soldiers lost in the fight, some of whom made it back to live on and some who did not, so I have seen the cost of war. I look back and remember how many fewer of our soldiers, airmen, sailors, and marines would have been lost if the enemy wasn’t so emboldened by a vast movement promoting our defeat supported by a sympathetic press.

FDR and JFK would be disgusted if they saw their party today. Abraham Lincoln would more than likely have jailed some for sedition for making such comments. Just think, if halfway through the battle for the Pacific in WW II, the same defeatist attitude existed. Tokyo Rose would have had a field day and the war would have dragged on much longer resulting in many more American casualties and likely other disastrous consequences.

The present war on terror had its mistakes. All wars have them. Look at all the errors made in WW II, but our war weary nation still stood together and fought off world tyranny. Congress authorized the war in Afghanistan and Iraq in the beginning and they need to support the mission, the troops, and the Commander-in-Chief to see this thing through whether they like it or not. We need to remember that this is our war, not just Bush’s war.
